Principal's Connect Ed Messages

Connect Ed 1/18

Good evening Cougars, this is Principal McHam with an important message.Due to significant accumulation of ice and the number of secondary roads that have not yet been cleared causing unsafe travel conditions across the county, all GCS schools will be remote tomorrow, Wednesday, January 19th. Students should log into Canvas to find information about teacher schedules for live instruction. The teachers have reviewed with the students how to log-on for classes and the class times.  If power is a problem, students have also been given hard copies of work to complete if you are without power. Students can log on to PowerSchool through NCEdCloud to see their second semester classes.

Thank you, stay safe and have a great evening.

Good evening Cougars, this is Principal McHam with an important message.

School is closed on Monday for MLK Day and Tuesday is a teacher workday.

If schools are closed on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday due to bad weather, students will still have live instruction on these days.  The teachers have reviewed with the students how to log-on for classes and the class times.  If power is a problem, students have also been given hard copies of work to complete if we are out of school next week.

Students can log on to PowerSchool through NCEdCloud to see their second semester classes.

8th grade families only.  The GCS magnet application period is underway and the deadline to apply to a magnet high school is Monday, February 21st.  Applications must be submitted on the SchoolMint website.  Our counselor will be in 8th social studies classes this week to share more information about high school options and the application process.  Mr. Adachi will also hold a parent information session Tuesday evening, February 8th to share the same information.  Please have your student check the Kernodle Counseling Department’s Canvas page for more information and links.
