Good evening parents, this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates.

School is closed tomorrow for the MLK holiday. 

Tuesday wrestling is at home against Kiser.  Thursday basketball is at Mendenhall and the boys will play first, starting at 4:45.  Wrestling will be at home. 

It is important that students scan their One Card each day and if they do not scan in, they will not be allowed to attend the afterschool event that evening. 

PTA would like you to mark your calendar for some upcoming events.  Friday, February 10th is the 6th grade only spring dance.  Friday, February 17th is the 7th and 8th graders' only spring dance.  Wednesday, February 22nd will be a night out at the NBA G League Greensboro Swarm game.  More specifics are to come soon. 

The end of the grading period is January 26th. 

Due to safety concerns, students should not be dropped off in the staff parking lot.   Parents, thank you for your continued support in reminding students of appropriate school and bus behaviors as we continue to work to keep everyone safe.

Good evening parents this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates.

Tomorrow, girls’ and boys’ basketball will play at home against Northern.  The girls will play at 445 and the boys will play at 6 and the theme is neon.  Show your support by wearing your neon colors. 

Wrestling is at Northern and will start at 5:00 p.m.

The orchestra concert is Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

Students should come to school with charged laptops every day and have their One Card with them daily to scan when entering the building. 

Due to safety concerns, students should not be dropped off in the staff parking lot.

Next Monday the 16th is a holiday and school is closed.

Good evening parents, this is Principal McHam with a brief message about the HVAC system.  The HVAC system was restored during the school day today and all classrooms have had heat since it occurred.  Thankfully, mild outdoor temperatures lead to generally comfortable temperatures in most of the building when the HVAC system was not working properly.  At this time, all classrooms do have heat.Thank you and have a great evening.

Good evening Kernodle parents, this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates.I hope that you all had a wonderful winter break.

With the storm front, there was damage to many GCS school sites.  Students should dress warmly until further notice of heat being restored in the building. The district is aware of the issues concerning the HVAC in our building and working diligently to address this issue.

As students return to school tomorrow remember to charge your laptops and bring your One Card, which they should have with them daily to scan when entering the building.

As we return, students, please remember appropriate school and bus behaviors.  Your hands should be kept to yourself at all times.  Horse play in the hallways will not be tolerated at any time.  Food and drinks are not allowed to be consumed on the bus.  Music should not be heard at any time by the drivers as this is a distraction and we want to keep all students safe while riding the bus.

Parents, we appreciate your support in speaking with your student about appropriate school and bus behaviors as we continue to work to keep everyone safe.

Good evening Kernodle parents, this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates.

Students should have their One Card with them daily to scan when entering the building.

The band concert is Tuesday and the orchestra concert is Wednesday, they both will start at 6. 

Basketball is Thursday at Northwest Middle.  Girls will play at 445 and boys will play at 6.  Wrestling will play at home against Northwest Middle 5:00.  Please come out and support our students.  Remember that there is a clear bag policy per GCS for all sporting events.  Entrance price is 5 dollars for adults and 3 dollars for school age students, cash only. 

Students will be out of school for winter break December 19 – January 4th

Please remind your students of appropriate bus behaviors.  Food and drinks are not allowed to be consumed on the bus at any time.  Music should not be heard at any time by the drivers as this is a distraction and we want to keep all students safe while riding the bus.

Good evening Kernodle parents, this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates.

Students should have their One Card with them daily to scan when entering the building.

Basketball is tomorrow at home against Northwest and at home on Thursday against Southwest.

Wrestling will play at Northwest tomorrow and at Southwest on Thursday.  Basketball games start at 4:45 and wrestling starts at 5:00.Please come out and support our students. 

Remember that there is a clear bag policy per GCS for all sporting events. Entrance price is $5 for adults and $3 for school age students, cash only.  Please try to bring exact cash and no bills over 20.

Good evening Kernodle Cougars, this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates.

Thank you to all of the families who donated to our food drive for Urban Ministries.  We have collected almost 1500 cans of food to be donated.  Thank you again for your support.

Mrs. Petit will begin Family Life classes with Mr. Garrett's Health/PE classes on Monday, November 28th.   Family Life is a 14-day unit for 7th and 8th-grade students and a 4-day unit for 6th-graders. Informational letters were previously sent home with students.  If you have questions, please email Mrs. Petit at petitg@gcsnc.com.

PTA will sponsor a Velocity 360 night this Friday the 2nd from 630 – 830 and it is only for Kernodle Middle School students.

Good evening Kernodle Cougars, this is Principal McHam with some important updates. 

Tryouts for basketball and wrestling will start on November 16th.  All information is on the Kernodle website under athletics. The deadline to complete and upload physicals in DragonFly is Saturday, November 12th.  Also, check dragonfly for any corrections that need to be made to the uploaded documentation. Hard copies of documents will not be accepted at tryouts.

The Kernodle Booster Bash Fundraiser is underway, and we are looking forward to our Silent Disco Bash next week.  This year, we’re raising funds for technology updates, and we need your help!  If you haven’t already registered, please do so and donate for your student on mybooster.com by searching for our school’s name.  This weekend, if you register your child and send three emails through the mybooster.com site, your child will be put in a drawing to win a waterproof speaker.  Thank you for supporting our students and staff at Kernodle Middle.

Good evening Kernodle Cougars, this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates. 

Students received a hard copy of their report cards on Wednesday.  Please reach out to their teachers if you have any concerns.

Student Council is doing canned goods and nonperishables food drive for Urban Ministries.  The homeroom with the most cans at the end of the week will win a small token of appreciation. 

Basketball and wrestling tryouts will start on Wednesday, November 16th.  Hard copies of information will not be accepted at tryouts. All information must be uploaded into DragonFly.

Good evening parents this is Principal McHam with your weekly updates.

Report cards will be sent home electronically tomorrow.

There is no school on Tuesday or Friday.

 

Volleyball and soccer will play at Eastern Middle on Monday.  On Thursday volleyball will be at Northeast and soccer will play at Northeast Park.  Football will play at home on Wednesday against Northeast. 

 

Tryouts for basketball and wrestling will start on November 16th.  All information must be uploaded to DragonFly no later than November 12th.  Hard copies of physicals will not be accepted at tryouts.  More specifics can be found on the Kernodle website under athletics. 

 

Students who accumulate 4 or more tardies each 9-weeks will receive after-school detention. 

 

PTA has reopened the spirit wear store for orders that will arrive in time for the holidays. The link to the store can be found on the current fundraiser’s page of the PTA website at kernodlepta.com.  Spright Night will be at Velocity 360 on December 2nd from 630-830, more details will be coming soon.

Tomorrow, October 31st is a teacher workday and there will not be any school for students. 

Volleyball will play at home against Mendenhall on Tuesday and at Western Middle on Thursday.  Football will play at home against Northeast Middle on Wednesday.Students who accumulate 4 or more tardies each 9-weeks will receive after-school detention. Pajamas or bedroom slippers are not allowed to be worn at school.  Please review the school’s dress code on our website as well as in the student planner. Mrs. Petit will begin Family Life classes with Mr. Bell's Health/PE classes on Tuesday, November 1st.   Family Life is a 14-day unit for 7th and 8th-grade students and a 4-day unit for 6th-graders.
