Weekly Updates and Reminders

September 18, 2022 Weekly STAR Family Updates

Good afternoon STAR Families. This is Mrs. Traumuller, the Morehead Principal, with the updates and reminders for the week ahead!

We are in for another busy week for our Morehead STARS, so let's get to it!

Kindergarten families - September 29th is the deadline for the mandatory forms to be submitted or proof from your medical care provider that you have scheduled an appointment. As a reminder, we must have on file your NC Health Assessment as well as your vaccination records prior to the deadline given to us by the state.

On Monday your Star Student will receive a flyer about the fall GO FAR Race. The Fall GO FAR Race will be held in High Point on November 12th at 9:00 AM. Registration for the race has already begun with the early bird registration fee being a total of $25 per racer. The early bird registration ends, and the price will increase after October 8th. Mr. Kight encourages children to participate in the GO FAR Race because it helps teach our star students that active, healthy lifestyles are fun and can be sustained throughout their lives. If you would like to participate in this community event, please register and join the Morehead team on the GO FAR website at gofarclub.org. Please reach out to Mr. Kight with any questions.

This Thursday, September 22nd, our PTA is hosting Skate Night at Skateland USA West. In effort to combine nights and events in our very busy world, Our staff will be providing information on Curriclulum and Title One Funding there as to avoid having two afterschool events on one week. If you cannot make it, you will have the information sent home with you and of course available on our website beginning Friday, September 23rd.

This week we will walk our students through very important safety drills. We will review and walk through together our tornado drill as well as our "lock down" drill. We alert all families of these events so that we can partner together to help our STARS understand the importance. We will walk them through the motions and make it as relaxed as possible with our student body.

Message from Morehead PTA:
Join us for SKATE NIGHT this Thursday, September 22, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. This is a huge fund raiser for our PTA every year and we look forward to skating with our STARS!

Last, but certainly not least, I thank you personally for your help in the car line. We have such a short window of time allotted to get over 540 students in the building and our procedures and partnerships with our families have made it successful. Thank you for knowing that early dismissal should only be done with appointments and is over at 2:15. If you arrive later than 2:15, you will be asked to wait in the car line for you STAR student.

That is all that I have for you today. We look forward to seeing all of our STARS tomorrow morning, beginning at 7:20 am. Have a great evening.
