Weekly Updates and Reminders 01/04/23
Good afternoon Morehead STAR Families! This is Mrs. Traumuller, the Proud Morehead Principal, with your weekly updates and reminders.
Happy New YEAR to all! We are looking forward to starting a new year with all of our community and have so very much to be thankful for and proud of as a STAR!
Please join us in welcoming our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Shannon Suggs. Please see her introduction below. She will begin her work as a STAR on January 3rd and we look forward to working with her as we begin the second half of our school year!
Our STAR students will return to school on Wednesday, January the 4th! Please make sure that you are out on time for the bus and are aiming to arrive to school as a car rider prior to 7:45 am. Before the break, we had an increase in tardies and while we know that some of that was due to cold temperatures and late starts from the house, this leads to our students having to come in to catch up with the class and can cause anxiety. As we start a new year, please help us by aiming for arrival on time, starting at 7:20 am. When traffic is all aiming for a 7:45am arrival, there will certainly be back ups on Tower Road, leading to tardies for our STAR students. When your STAR student is late, they often miss their social and emotional lessons as well as their educational support time. This time of the day is set aside to help run interventions for all students who are needing some supports for grade level success and accelerate our students who are in need of enrichment to further their education. We appreciate your support in ensuring that our STARS are in our building at the start of our day at 7:45am.
Please note that if you change your phone number, or move, you need to communicate the updated change so that we have the correct information for you in the event we need to contact you regarding school events or news.
As we begin a new year, this is a great time to reflect on our impact and our work. If you would like to make a suggestions, bring something to our attention, or just say some nice words to our STAR staff, please use the link to allow us to know how to better serve and improve on our practices. You can do this anonymously if you would like, however, we would like to have a connection to you to ensure that we are hearing your concerns correctly. Any concerns regarding a suggested school change will be brought to our parent representatives on our School Improvement Team, Mrs. Judy Fowler and Dr. Elizabeth Golding.
