Weekly Updates and Reminders 03/12/23
Sunday, March 12, 2023 Weekly STAR Family Updates
Good afternoon Morehead STAR Family. This is Mrs. Traumuller, the proud Principal, with your updates and reminders for the week ahead.
I am simply overwhelmed with the amount of love and outpouring of goodness that this Morehead STAR Family has shown to one of our own! The family that was in tragedy has truly been given a fresh start with a FAMILY of support. At this time, the family has what they need and have asked us to pass along their gratitude in their time of need. If this changes and they search to find permanent housing, we will let you know. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING- truly it was a bright spotlight on humanity and as the leader of the school I can honestly say that your generosity is amazing!
Some of you have reached out to me regarding tomorrow's start time due to the unexpected weather. I have not heard anything from the district and will as always, communicate with you as soon as possible if I hear something regarding the start time. I do not expect anything at this time due to above freezing temperatures tomorrow morning. Please plan for a regular start time tomorrow morning at this time.
Thank you for the help of returning to the structure and protocols of the carline during arrival and dismissal. It is a much smoother and safer time for all!
This week starts off with a bang! Our third graders will have their performance day on Monday! The schedule was sent out on Class Dojo to each class but as always will be on our school website for ease of access. On Tuesday, we will conduct our Spring Required Lock Down Drill with our students. This is a time when the entire school will move into designated safe locations within our school. Please note that we will take the time to explain the drill to our students and walk them through it as a review. The remainder of the week is a normal scheduled week.
Mrs. Garner, our media specialist has asked to share some upcoming information for planning purposes regarding our Spring Book Fair:
We are going Under the Sea for our next book fair and we can't wait to read with you the week of March 20-24! Family night will happen on March 23rd from 3:00-4:45 before Arts Extravaganza! Come on family night or send money to your child's teacher. Preview day will take place here at school on Friday the 17th and we will have lots of fun and exciting things the rest of the week planned for the book fair! If you would like to volunteer at the fair, make sure you are signed up on this sheet and have registered as a GCS volunteer! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1CM29J12Lf9-X2ignEsk8QN-Bih-kxaJCuhoFmc4oC8c/edit
Please continue to share feedback and comments about what we are currently doing or what we could do better by visiting this link: https://forms.gle/8YSd1Gx8gUG6h4mc6
This brings us to our PTA NEWS:
Wednesday, March 15th will be the next Morehead CiCi’s Pizza day! Plan to come for lunch or dinner to dine in or carry out! The homeroom class with the most orders will win a pizza party!
Thank you, parents, for participating in the school store fundraiser! We raised over 10K in teacher gift cards as well as PTA receiving over 1K in cash donations. We know the students are excited about getting their qualifying prizes! The prizes are mailed to Morehead sometime in April and we will deliver them to students.
All PTA news and PTA meeting minutes can be found on the Morehead website.
That is all that I have for you this week! Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to seeing our STAR students Monday morning!
