Weekly Updates and Reminders 09/03/23
Sunday, September 3, 2023 Weekly STAR Family Updates
Good afternoon Morehead STAR Family! This is Mrs. Traumuller with your weekly updates and reminders for the week ahead!
Let's start with a HUMONGOUS "Thank You" for your help making our start to the 2023 - 2024 school year STARTASTIC! Our arrival and dismissal procedures for over 500 students are smooth and already at the 20 minute mark! That is outstanding. If you are in car line - please make sure that you have your name placard on your dash so that Mrs. Bymaster can easily call your STAR and get them out on time. The safety drills both went amazing and the STAR students certainly did amazing work! They followed directions and truly exhibited STAR student qualities.
This week ahead starts off with a holiday on Monday, 9/04/23 for Labor Day. There will be no school for any student or staff throughout the district. Tuesday through Friday are normal school days at Morehead and we look forward to diving deeper into the curriculum and fine tuning the procedures in the classroom, hallways, and cafeteria. Tuesday, starting at 3pm, we will have our first School Improvement Team meeting via Teams. This is a meeting that has representatives from all stakeholders involved and takes place monthly to help us better guide our school. The link is here if you would like to join.
One of the papers that was sent home in the first day of school paperwork was our STAR Standards expectations paper. Please make sure that you read that and sign/return it to the school as soon as possible. If you have not yet joined your classroom Class Dojo page, please do so immediately. It is an expectation this year for ALL families to use this app to communicate.
Last week, we had some families inquire about teachers using the microwave to heat up student lunches. This is something that we cannot do as we only have 1 microwave in the cafeteria and it is a safety concern as well. Please plan for your child to be able to eat the food that you send without being microwaved.
Please visit the GCS website for all directions on how to stay connected to your child's information and grades within Power School. GCS is asking for all parents to get connected this year in order to maintain ease of updating information and sending home reports that every parent/guardian to register for an account.
