Weekly Updated and Reminders 09/10/23
Sunday, September 10, 2023 Weekly STAR Family Updates
Good afternoon Morehead STAR Family! This is Mrs. Traumuller with your weekly updates and reminders for the week ahead!
This week is a busy one! We have a fifth grade parent meeting on Tuesday, from 6 to 6:30 to give information about the trip to Camp Hanes. Please enter through the cafeteria doors in the back of the school. On Thursday, our third grade students will take their first round of state testing, the Beginning of Grade (BOG). This test is only for reading and will assess them on third grade curriculum in a shorter version than the EOG at the end of the year. This test is very important for all of our third grade students to take and try their best. They will need to arrive on time and be well rested.
One of the papers that was sent home in the first day of school paperwork was our STAR Standards expectations paper. This document is on our school website for easy access, and lists all of the key elements that allow us to partner together for a successful school year. Items like arrival and dismissal procedures, school visits, lunch visits, etc. Please take time to read and return to school if you have not yet. Another important paper for our school is the Parent/Household income form. While we are and will remain a Title One, CEP school, we need your help with these forms. When they are returned to school they are immediately turned in to downtown where they then evaluate need and monies appropriated to our school. Thank you for your help getting these forms turned in.
Our PTA has their website up to date on our webpage and we encourage you not only to join the PTA but also to check out the updates. The webpage can be found here. They will host a zoom meeting on Wednesday, September 13th at 6:00. Please join, if you can, to find out all of the ways in which our PTA is supporting our STARS! Also, this Saturday PTA is hosting a Mix and Mingle for STAR parents to get to know each other and to help clean up our campus while the children play and assist. This event will start at 9 am and the meeting place will be the gym in the back of the school.
Finally, our school data was released and we have not only maintained our school grade but also met expected growth once again! Thank you for your support and extra efforts to support learning.
That is all that I have for you. We are looking forward to seeing our STARS bright and early on Monday morning!
