SPANISH - Smith Spanish Classes--6th, 7th, and 8th: Bienvenidos a espanol! Welcome to Spanish. Bienvenidos a espanol! My name is Melody Smith, and I teach at Southeast Guilford Middle School. Previously I served as the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL/ESL) teacher at both Southeast Middle and High. I love being a Falcon! In past years I was a Spanish instructor in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school system. I look forward to working with each of my students--we will accomplish a great deal this year! If you have any questions, please call me at 674-4280 or e-mail me through this website. *En espanol : Si tiene preguntas, mi número aquí es 674-4280 o puede escribirme por "e-mail." 6th graders are part of an Exploratory Class of Spanish and will meet every other week throughout the year. 7th and 8th graders take Spanish 1 every day for two years. If they meet course requirements and receive a passing grade, they are eligible to receive a high school credit and will enter high school ready for Spanish 2. Parents/Guardians, please help students to remember to save all of their handouts and notebook throughout both years of Spanish--these will help them later on. They should organize the handouts by units. 8th graders should review their Spanish 1 notes and handouts the summer or semester before entering Spanish 2 (as well as visit the links section for textbook activities, grammar games, etc.). If you have any questions, please let me know.
