Principal's Connect Ed Messages

Wednesday, November 29, 2018

Good evening, this is Mr. Kitley from Northwest High School. Please know that my intent and effort as I send out information and updates via ConnectEd is to give everyone the most timely, relevant, and transparent information I have. I do know there are more questions and we’re working hard to address concerns. With that being said, I know that student safety is at the forefront of all our minds. I want to update you on the security measures taken thus far. There were six law enforcement officers on campus this morning and at least four remained until the end of the school day. The officers were both uniformed as well as plain clothed officers with both marked and unmarked cars.  Tomorrow there will be at least the same level of law enforcement presence throughout the day. I also know that our students require and deserve extra support right now. Please encourage your student to reach out to a teacher, counselor, administrator, or any other adult they have connected with here on campus. We want to support them in any way we can. And please know that I am fully aware that there is a lot of work to be done, and the work before us will involve input from students, parents, and staff as we work toward a positive inclusive environment for all.  We are working on the best way to develop focus groups of students, parents and our school’s Equity Team, as input from each of these groups will be essential for us to move forward.  Thank you for your continued understanding and support of Northwest High School and know that we will navigate through this together to ensure the very best for all our students.
