Sunday, September 1st

Good afternoon, this is Ms. Young, Principal at Northwest Middle school with the weekly reminders.

We had an awesome first week of school.  As a reminder, students are out of school, tomorrow, Monday the 2nd for Labor day.

Our start time is 8:45am and school is dismissed daily at 3:45pm.  Although the bridge on Bunch Rd. is still under construction, we hope that it will be open by next Monday. Please continue to be patient with the morning and afternoon commutes, and please plan accordingly to arrive at school on time.  Please call the office for a car rider number, or put your child's name in the car wind shield to help speed up the car rider line.

I am hearing from transportation that there are continued bus driver vacancies.  I do not have bus rosters that list specific students, and I hear about late buses near dismissal time, so unfortunately I cannot communicate with specific families about late buses.  We are asking students to call or text parents to let them know they will be arriving late.  Students may use the phone in the front office, if needed.  Students are also supervised at all times when waiting for late buses.

Student council meetings to plan the pep rally are September 4th and 11th at 8:00 am in Ms. Sharp’s room-ALL students are welcome to attend.

A reminder for all rising 7th grader parents.. Please make sure your student has received their required immunizations. Please submit a copy of the immunization’s records to the front office.

If you are going to pick up your student early, please remember to send in an early dismissal note with your child to the front office first thing in the morning.

Morning Band and Orchestra Rehearsals begin this week.  Monday and Thursday are for students interested in auditioning for All County Band, Tuesday is Jazz Band, which is open to all 7th and 8th grade band and orchestra students, and Wednesday and Friday are for students interested in auditioning for All County Orchestra.

Sunday, August 25th

Good afternoon, this is Ms. Young, Principal at Northwest Middle school with a reminder about upcoming important dates.

Thanks to all of the families for coming out to our Open House.  It was a huge success, and we are all so excited for a new school year.  The first day of school is tomorrow, the 26th.  Our start time is 8:45am and school is dismissed daily at 3:45pm.  As a reminder, the bridge on Bunch Rd. is still under construction.  That will delay morning and afternoon commutes significantly.  It is strongly suggested that parents leave extra time if dropping off or picking up students.  The traffic will be extremely heavy with both middle school and high school traffic.  Please have a car rider number visible if you are picking your students up after school.  And please be patient as traffic is heavy the first several days of school.

Fall sports tryouts start tomorrow as well.  If your student is going to try out for Football, Girls Soccer and Boys Volleyball, please submit a completed sports physical and concussion form to Ms. Thomas before 9:00am tomorrow in the gym.

Student council meetings to plan the pep rally are September 4th and 11th at 8am in Ms. Sharp’s room-ALL are welcome to attend.

8th grade parents and students: Please DO NOT send any money for the State Fair fieldtrip the first week of school. Money collection will begin on Tuesday, 9/3.

If you are going to pick up your student early, please remember to send in an early dismissal note with your child to the front office first thing in the morning.

Just as a reminder, school supply lists can be found on our school website, and more specific items that are needed will be shared at Open House.  The PTSO is also sponsoring NWM student planners for all students, so no need to purchase a planner. Students will be given those the first week of school.

I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow.  Thanks so much, and have a great night.
