Please read below for some important updates as we prepare for the winter break.
Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade will be completing NWEA MAP testing over the next few days. 3-5 students will complete the assessment when they return to school in January. Please make sure that students are present on the testing day. Kindergarten will administer the test on Thursday the 10th. 1st grade is administering on Friday the 11th and 2nd grade will be administered on Tuesday the 15th. If your child is attending remotely, your teacher will be in touch with you about scheduling options for the tests.
GCS OneCards are being distributed now to students who were at Alamance last year. If your child is a bus rider, they will be bringing the cards to and from school each day. The card will be scanned as the enter and exit the bus so that you can track them on the Here Comes the Bus app. There is a $5 fee to replace lost cards.
GCS devices have arrived for our 2nd and 3rd grade students to allow for 1:1 technology in the hands of every student. Devices will be distributed to our in person 2nd graders on Thursday. If your child is working remotely, your child will pick up the device on Tuesday during the administration of the NWEA MAP testing. We will be scheduling a pick up time for our 3rd grade students. Your teacher will communicate these dates and times with you. If your 2nd or 3rd grader has a borrowed device, please return it when you pick up the new iPad.
Devices for 4th and 5th grade students have not arrived yet, we will share that information as soon as it is available. If you are on the waitlist for a device, we will contact you as soon as we have a borrowed device for you.
