Good evening Page Pirate Students and families. This is Erik Naglee, principal of Page High calling with your weekly announcements. I hope each of you are enjoying the Labor Day weekend with your family. We are looking forward to a great 4th week of school where live instruction will take place in all classes. The Remote Learning schedule for weeks 4-9 can be found under the Remote Learning tab at the top of our website. Each class with have 2 live lessons each week and will also have prerecorded content and assignments on the days where the class doesn’t meet officially. There are multiple times built in to the schedule to complete this work on the days when the live lessons are not taking place. As an example, tomorrow students will participate in periods 4-7 with live instruction. They will also have content that they are responsible for in periods 1-3. Please remember that it is important for students to participate as attendance will be taken in each class. If students are unable to participate during the scheduled time, they can still complete the lessons and assignments and will be able to be marked present for up to 10 days after the assignments and class has taken place. Great news! Our school has partnered with Smile North Carolina, the mobile dentists to offer in-school dental care. Even better, dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and NC Health Choice for Children. A low cost self-pay option is available for those without insurance. More information and a place for sign up can be found on our website under School News. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended waivers allowing districts flexibility in how schools distribute and pay for student meals. We are thrilled that we will continue to operate through Dec. 31, 2020, under the summer nutrition guidelines, which allows us to serve meals to all children who are age 18 and under, without charge. These meals will be available daily from 11 am to 12 noon, curbside, at every school and families can visit any school to pick up the meals which include lunch and breakfast for the next day. We want to encourage parents to please take a few minutes and fill out a meal benefits application at www.lunchapplication.com, in preparation for when the waivers expire at the end of December. Parents may reapply at any time during the year if their financial situation changes. Our Friday Night Lights cookout event will be held this week in the Irving Park area at Lake Forest Court from 4-6. Please remember that social distancing must be followed including wearing masks. We look forward to seeing you there! Lastly, the Page Athletic Booster Club will be holding elections soon for this year.
