Grimsley Student Becomes First ITO From NC

In June of 2019, Grimsley theatre student Maura Toole became the first student from NC to be elected as International Thespian Officer (ITO) for the International Thespian Society. ITOs are student officers who help plan and organize events for student members of the International Thespian Society (the largest and oldest theatre organization for students). These duties include going to Washington, D.C. for arts advocacy, attending state festivals to teach workshops, and planning activities for the International Thespian Festival (one of the largest theatre festivals for high school students in the world).

Maura, a junior, was one of only six students selected to serve as student leaders from this organization. Over 100 students applied to be a part of the program.
