Summer Reading Challenge

  • To help our students continue to grow their literacy skills, GCS encourages students to read at home each day. Students can read any materials that interest them, including our free district eBooks available through each school's Destiny Discover library catalog, as long as they’re reading!

Reading challenges over winter, spring and summer breaks offer students incentive to continue their reading when they are not in school. Contact your school library media coordinator for more information.

2022 Summer Reading Challenge

  • GCS wants students to keep reading over Summer Break! Rising PreK-12th grade students can record the minutes they read over the break and turn in a reading log to their school library media coordinator in the fall for an opportunity to earn a ticket to a Kersey Valley attraction.

    Kersey Valley L:ive your adventure!

Students must read at least 900 minutes to earn the free ticket! That's only 30 minutes a day for 30 days! Give a signed reading log to your school library media coordinator by September 2.
