McCullough Named to Board of Education
Aaron “Keith” McCullough will be the next representative for District 1 on the Guilford County Board of Education. Board members selected McCullough out of a pool of candidates during a special meeting Tuesday night at Andrews High School.
As the member for District 1, McCullough will represent Andrews High, Fairview Elementary, Florence Elementary, The Middle College at GTCC-High Point, Montlieu Academy of Technology, Parkview Village Expressive Arts Elementary, Penn-Griffin School for the Arts, Triangle Lake Montessori, Union Hill Elementary and Welborn Academy of Science and Technology.
McCullough, a 1985 graduate of Andrews High, currently works in the Office of Sponsored Programs at Winston-Salem University. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master of Science in Adult Education from N.C. A&T. He also attended Parkview Elementary and Northeast Junior High (now Welborn Middle), which are also in District 1.
“Representing students in District 1 will give me an opportunity to help the community in which I lived as a High Point City and Guilford County Schools student,” McCullough said in his nomination papers for the position. “I live in the same home in which I lived as a student. I know the residents and the neighborhood well, because I have lived in this community most of my life.”
McCullough will be sworn-in before the June 9 board meeting and will serve the remainder of the interim term which expires in December, 2016.
