Special Meeting Called to Consider School Board Candidates

The Guilford County Board of Education has called a special meeting for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, in the Media Center at Ragsdale High School, 1000 Lucy Ragsdale Drive in Jamestown.

The meeting was called to consider the remaining school board candidates for the open District 1 position after Ed Squires withdrew from consideration earlier today. “At this time I withdraw my name from the District 1 school board position,” Squires wrote in a statement. “Due to the current time commitment and beginning a new business, along with coaching, I would not be a great candidate at this time. Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to serve our community.”

The special-called school board meeting will follow the graduation ceremony for the Middle College at GTCC-High Point, which starts at 6 p.m. at the Koury Auditorium at GTCC’s Jamestown campus. The school board hopes to swear in the new District 1 board member at its regularly scheduled meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, at the administration building, 712 N. Eugene Street in Greensboro.
