A senior from High Point Central is one of only 34 students in the state and 59 in the world to receive the prestigious Morehead-Cain Scholarship from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Robert Jarrell served as freshman, sophomore and junior class president before being elected student body president this year. He also tutors students, volunteers with area nonprofits and started his own chauffeur business.
“Rob Jarrell is the most kind and caring student I have taught in several years,” says English teacher Susan Fleenor. “This summer he will work in support of the Ben Carson campaign and even plans to go to Iowa because he believes in the message of social justice.”
The Morehead-Cain Scholarship covers all expenses for four years of undergraduate study at UNC-Chapel Hill. It also features a distinctive program of summer enrichment experiences designed to support students as they learn and grow.
