GCS Choice Showcase Draws Crowd of More than 5,100
More than 5,100 students and parents experienced the first-ever GCS Choice Showcase on Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center, where they got the chance to talk to educators from some of Guilford County Schools’ most innovative programs. The showcase featured the district’s 54 magnet programs and 14 career and technical education programs, allowing families to explore their choices as they prepare for next school year.
Saturday also marked the beginning of the magnet application period, which this year is completely online for elementary and middle school students. High school applications will still be paper-based and submitted to each school of interest. The magnet application period ends Friday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m. Those who need internet access can visit the Student Assignment office at 120 Franklin Blvd., Greensboro, to complete their application.
From performing arts to robotics, the showcase displayed the many ways GCS personalizes learning for its students.
