It’s a new season for the Guilford County Board of Education, but no new faces yet. At their meeting Thursday night, a judge swore in the board members who won re-election in November. Those board members are Jeff Belton, Alan Duncan, Deena Hayes, Ed Price and Nancy Routh.

After the swearing in, Alan Duncan was re-elected as chair and Amos Quick was re-elected as vice-chair of the 2014-15 board.

One seat is currently open. The seat for District 1 was held by Carlvena Foster, who won election to the Guilford County Board of Commissioners District 1 seat on Nov. 4. A public forum will be held on Dec. 3 to discuss what skills, background and experience the public feels are most important in a new District 1 Board member. The newly selected District 1 Board member will serve the remainder of Foster’s term, which expires in Dec. 2016.
