New Principal Named at Eastern Middle

At its meeting Tuesday, the Board of Education approved Christopher Tolliver as the new principal of Eastern Middle.

Tolliver has served as assistant principal at Dudley High since 2011. During that time, he helped increase Algebra I end-of-course proficiency scores by 33 percentage points over three years. Overall proficiency also increased from 44.8 percent proficient to 63.8 percent proficient in three years. Tolliver developed and led monthly professional development sessions and has a strong background in data analysis and parent and community engagement.

Before becoming an assistant principal, Tolliver taught math and language arts at Johnson Street Global Studies from 2005 to 2011. He was the school’s Teacher of the Year for 2007-08 and received the Horace Mann Crystal Apple award recognizing teacher excellence in 2010.
