Quick Inducted into Dudley Hall of Distinction
Rev. Amos Quick, Guilford County Board of Education Vice-Chairman, is the most recent inductee to Dudley High’s Hall of Distinction.
The hall honors anyone who has made an outstanding contribution to the Dudley community. On Saturday, Oct. 3, Quick was recognized for his life-long commitment to his community and Dudley High.
“Those individuals who are inducted into the Hall of Distinction have demonstrated exemplary achievements in their chosen careers,” said Everette James, member of the Dudley Hall of Fame and Distinction. “Reverend Quick, being a Dudley graduate, sets a great example for the students at Dudley High.”
Quick is the senior pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in High Point and has served on the Guilford County Board of Education since 2004. He is currently serving as the board’s Vice-Chairman for the tenth consecutive year, but his service to the children in Guilford County started long before joining the board of education. He has worked for the Black Child Development Institute, where he oversaw mentoring and tutoring programs; served as executive director for the Boys and Girls Club where he fine-tuned programs and activities to meet the growing needs of children in the area; speaks directly to students and parents through morning radio talk shows; in addition to leading numerous grassroots community efforts to provide needed services and training for children and families struggling in poverty.
His church, Calvary Baptist, credit’s Quick’s leadership, along with the cooperation of its members and ministries, as the reason Calvary re-emerged as a beacon of light and hope on the south side of High Point.
All of his good works earned him an impressive array of educational, social and civic recognitions and achievements, but his work isn’t done. Calvary Baptist has plans to establish a social service organization to help address the community’s needs.
Quick’s photo will hang in the Hall of Distinction at Dudley High.
