Dudley Holds Ribbon-Cutting for New Athletic Complex
When the Dudley High school community celebrates its football season opener on Friday, Aug. 17, it will do so in a newly constructed athletic complex that includes a new stadium, football field, track and field house.
The school will celebrate the completion of the construction with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in front of the school's new ticket office. The school's Marching Band of Thunder, cheerleaders and choral group will participate in the ceremony.
Part of the 2008 School Bond, the project includes:
- Stadium that seats 5,000, which replaces the original stadium built in 1980
- Sod for the football field
- Track, long jump, high jump, discus and shot put pits
- Two concession buildings and two ticket offices
- Field house with locker rooms and a weight room
- Score board and sound system
- Field irrigation system
- Press box
The season opener kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with the Dudley Panthers hosting the Southern Durham Spartans. Tickets can be purchased beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the school's ticket office.
