Nora Carr Named President-Elect of NSPRA

Guilford County Schools (GCS) Chief of Staff Nora Carr was named president-elect of to the executive board of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Carr was affirmed on July 8 during the organization’s annual meeting, and she will take office on October 1.

Carr, who holds her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), joined GCS in 2008. As chief of staff, she oversees governmental relations, internal and external communications, special events, media relations, community relations, GCSTV 2, strategic planning, Guilford Parent Academy, grant development, volunteers and partnerships and the print shop and courier.

A sought-after speaker and public relations strategist, Carr has assisted school systems, educational associations, nonprofits and businesses in 25 states. She also serves as a contributing editor on communications for the American School Board Journal and as a columnist on community and stakeholder relations for eSchool News. In 2010, Carr received NSPRA’s highest honor, the Presidents Award.

NSPRA, which is governed by an executive board comprised of 10 elected officers, provides school communication training, products and services to school leaders across the country. NSPRA's mission is to advance education through responsible public relations and communication that leads to success for all students.
