GCS Names Northern, Enrichment Region Superintendents
Guilford County Schools (GCS) announced the appointment of superintendents for the Northern Region and Enrichment Region Tuesday during the Board of Education meeting.
Dr. Randall Shaver, who has served as the interim Northern Region Superintendent since John Modest's retirement in December 2011, will continue in the position with a start date effective July 1. Shaver served as superintendent of Mississippi's Tupelo Public Schools, and superintendent of Whiteville City Schools and associate superintendent of Duplin County Schools in North Carolina.
Prior to his district-level experience, Shaver worked in various administrative roles in GCS, including serving as principal of Western High and Southeast Middle, as an assistant principal of Southeast High and as a teacher at Andrews High.
Dr. Wanda Legrand was named the Enrichment Region Superintendent with a start date effective July 1. She has been serving as executive director of the Enrichment Region since July 2010 and also served as the executive director of secondary curriculum before transitioning to the Enrichment Region.
Previously, she was a senior instruction manager for American Express and executive director of leadership and professional development in the Charleston County School District. Legrand also spent several years as an administrator in GCS including serving as principal of Northwest High, Southwest High and Southeast Middle. She has also served as an assistant principal and teacher in the district
