Good afternoon Morehead STAR Families! This is Mrs. Traumuller, the Proud Morehead Principal, with your weekly updates and reminders.
Let's begin with a celebration of excellence and congratulate Mrs. Jenny Braswell! She was voted as Morehead Elementary' s 2023 Teacher of the Year! She is an amazing teacher that goes above and beyond for all of her students.
I would also like to reach out to all of the families and staff that reached out to me to ask if there was anything that we could do for the families impacted by the fire in our neighborhood over the weekend. This family is truly one that ensures that we are more than just a school - but a true family! A special shout out to the police officers and the fire fighters in our community that responded to ensure that the families were safe and that the area stayed safe throughout the night. When I find more out, I will update everyone.
This week is Read Across America week! Mrs. Garner, our media specialist, has planned a sprit week that revolves around the excitement of reading! This schedule was posted on Class Dojo, but here it is again for everyone to plan to participate.
Monday: Reading Jogs our Mind- Wear your favorite workout gear and read.
Tuesday: Reading is in our Genes- Wear your favorite jeans and read.
Wednesday: Reading Takes us Places- Wear your favorite wacky socks and read.
Thursday: Reading Shapes our Minds- Wear your favorite hat and read.
Friday: Reading Brings us Together- Wear your Morehead gear and read.
I also encourage all of you to join us for the American Heart Association's Hoops for Hearts. Mr. Kight has sent the information home last Tuesday but it is also posted on Class Dojo. You can download the app or visit Heart.org/KHC. Our schoolwide event will be held at school on Thursday during their normal specials rotation.
This upcoming Tuesday will be when the third quarter progress reports will come home to parents. Please make sure to check your STAR student backpack and mark yes for a conference if needed.
