Weekly Announcements 4/16/23

Good Evening Tiger Families, this is Principal Chase Arrington at Western Guilford Middle School bringing you announcements for the week of April 17^th – April 21^st.

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable spring break. We look forward to seeing our students return for the last 8 weeks of the school year. We are looking forward to finishing strong for the 2022-23 school year.

Tuesday, April 18^th we will host a Rising 6^th Grade Parent Night from 6pm – 7pm. If you have a rising 6^th grader and would like to learn more about the upcoming school year, please join us in the multi-purpose room from 6pm – 7pm.

Thursday, April 20^th 8^th grade Science will have their 3^rd quarter interim assessment in the morning. Please have students at school by 8:20am so we may begin testing at 8:45am. If students arrive after the start time, they will remain in the front office until the testing session is complete. They will have an opportunity to make up the testing later.

Friday, April 21^st, the Parent Teacher Organization will host the 7^th grade dance from 6pm – 8pm. Cost of the dance is $5, and concessions will be sold. This is a cash only event. If students received In School Suspension or Out of School Suspension between March 27^th – April 21^st, they will not be able to attend the dance.

Athletics this week:

Wednesday, April 19^th Girls and Boys Track will host a home meet against Northeast Middle School starting at 4:45pm.

Thursday, April 20^th Softball and Baseball will host a home game against Northeast Middle School starting at 4:45pm. Please come out and support your Tiger Athletics.

Saturday, April 22^nd we will host an “Old School Saturday” community engagement at WGMS from 10am – 12pm. This is open to all rising 6^th graders, current WGMS students, staff, and families are welcome. Please see the attached flier for more information.

Upcoming Events:

Friday, May 19^th the PTO will host the 8^th grade formal. More details regarding this event will come later. If 8^th graders receive ISS/OSS between April 24^th – May 19^th, they will not be eligible to attend the dance.
