There will be two other great opportunities to see performances by our Performing Arts department. Our Spring Band Concert will be Monday, May 16th at 7 pm in the auditorium, and the Spring Chorus program will be Tuesday, May 17th at 7 pm in the auditorium.
Interim reports for the 4th quarter will go home with students this week. I encourage each parent to review their child’s progress and contact teachers regarding any questions.
State-required testing begins May 27 with one exam a day designated by block. You can review the exam schedule here: 2nd Semester Final Exams . Students enrolled in Biology, Math 1, Math 3, and/or English 2 will test on May 27 unless they have a conflicting exam. Seniors will test on May 27 as well to ensure their grades can be finalized before June 4 graduation. Final exams have transitioned to online so students should bring fully charged devices each day they test along with a charger. Please remember that due to North Carolina testing policies we cannot release students early from the exam block. So please plan your appointments appropriately. Students will be dismissed on May 27-June 3 at the end of testing (approximately 2:00). Buses will not leave until 4:25.
The Falcon Band will host a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Highway 55 on Elmsly Ct on Saturday, May 21st from 8 am – 10 am. It is dine-in or take out and tickets are $7.
Cap and Gown Pick Up
Any senior who did not pick up their cap and gown back in April will have to go to the NC Graduate Services office in Burlington. Their number is 336.228.7770. You will need to call and arrange a time and date to pick up your items.
AP exams begin on Monday, May 2, and will go through Friday, May 13. Our testing site is located at Pleasant Garden Baptist.
Late Arrivals and Early Departures
Remember that when students arrive at school LATE, they need to SIGN IN with the attendance office and have a note to support an excused tardy. If a student is LEAVING EARLY, they must have parent approval AND sign out at the attendance office. Failure to do so is a violation of our school code of conduct.
Please remember that all early dismissals must be before 4:10 pm. We do not allow early dismissals after this time. This is to protect instructional time and limit congestion in the front office as well as the parking lots. If you need to get your student out of school early plan appropriately and do so before 4:10 pm.
Masking Optional Policy
As a reminder to all our families, the Board of Education voted to make masks optional in Guilford County School buildings and buses. This was implemented on February 22, which means that students, staff, and visitors will have the option of wearing a mask or not while on campus.
With the recent rapid changes to transportation throughout the district, I do encourage all parents who have students that ride the bus to download the HERE COMES THE BUS APP. To register for an HCTB account, parents need an active email address, the GCS school code (87491), and their student’s ID number. Go to herecomesthebus.com and click GET Started or go to your APP store and download the APP. Beginning January 12, the Transportation Office number will change to 1-888-511-(4GCS)4427 and will operate Monday – Friday from 6 am – 9 pm.
