Connect Ed Dec. 14 -18th 2020

Good evening, Peck Elementary School families. This is Dr. Ashley Triplett, principal, with your updates for the week of December 14^th through the 18^th.

This week, we will continue to administer the NWEA MAP Growth assessments to K-2 students to evaluate learning loss caused during the pandemic. The assessments will not count against your student’s grade and is solely to help your student, his or her teacher, and you understand where your student excels and where they still have room to grow academically. To get the most accurate and reliable data, students are highly encouraged to take the assessment in-person. However, remote learning students will be able to take the assessment online if they choose, and we will contact you if this applies to determine when and how your student will test.

At this time (due to COVID-19), outside food/drinks are not permitted for students. Please let families know that we cannot distribute outside food and drinks to students - This includes holiday parties, lunch deliveries, and birthday celebrations. Students MAY bring their own breakfast/lunch from home but it must remain in their possession.

Guilford County Schools will be closed for students Wednesday, December 23^rd through January 4^th. On January 5^th, Pre-K through 2^nd grade students and students in Ms. Moody’s class will continue face-to-face instruction. Students in 3^rd through 5^th who selected face-to-face instruction will begin reporting to Peck. Students in all grade levels who have selected remote instruction will continue to learn remotely.

Buenas tardes, familias de la Escuela Primaria Peck. Soy la Dra. Ashley Triplett, directora, con sus novedades para la semana del 14 al 18 de diciembre.

Esta semana, continuaremos administrando las evaluaciones de crecimiento del MAPA de la NWEA a los estudiantes de K-2 para evaluar la pérdida de aprendizaje causada durante la pandemia. Las evaluaciones no contarán para la calificación de su estudiante y son únicamente para ayudar a su estudiante, su maestro, y para que usted entienda dónde sobresale su estudiante y dónde aún tiene espacio para crecer académicamente. Para obtener los datos más precisos y fiables, se anima a los estudiantes a que hagan la evaluación en persona. Sin embargo, los estudiantes de aprendizaje a distancia podrán realizar la evaluación en línea si así lo desean, y nos pondremos en contacto con usted si esto se aplica para determinar cuándo y cómo su estudiante realizará la prueba.

Los estudiantes PUEDEN traer su propio desayuno y almuerzo de casa, pero debe permanecer en su posesión.

Las Escuelas del Condado de Guilford estarán cerradas para los estudiantes desde el miércoles 23 de diciembre hasta el 4 de enero. El 5 de enero, los estudiantes de Pre-K a 2º grado y los estudiantes de la clase de la Sra. Moody continuarán la instrucción cara a cara. Los estudiantes de 3º a 5º que seleccionaron la instrucción cara a cara comenzarán a reportarse a Peck.
