Social Emotional Learning

Over the past several years, a new term has been given to much of the leadership development and character education work that we focus on at AJP.  Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.  In short, it’s how kids develop healthy habits that allow them to be successful.  I’ll be sharing some of this research in the weeks ahead.  This week, we are focusing on Self-Awareness in rally!
