GCS Recognizes Kiwanis Club for Connecting Students and Colleges

Guilford County Schools’ Board of Education thanked the Kiwanis Club of Greensboro for its longtime support and leadership of the district’s annual College Night event.

Now celebrating its 41st year, College Night allows thousands of GCS students to connect with more than 100 colleges, universities, trade schools and military branches from across the country. It was founded by Allen Kivett, an educator and Kiwanis Club member who is passionate about helping students pursue higher education.

"As a graduate of Greensboro College and former Director of Admissions there, he knows how important it is for students to make the right choice regarding their future," said Alan Duncan, board chairman.

The event also features information sessions for parents on financial aid, sponsored by the College Foundation of North Carolina.

This year, College Night will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.
