Leadership & Senior Seminar
Leadership
Leadership is a scheduled class that meets daily during one of the regularly scheduled HS class periods in the afternoon. Leadership attendance is not optional, but part of the support we give to your child to ensure their success in their college classes. Additionally, in order to take college classes for free, students MUST be enrolled in at least 1 HS class. We will meet with your child individually each week to assist them with their classes. The main focus will be to help them to develop the skills necessary to be a successful college student.
Senior Seminar
Students taking 1 or 2 college classes and a full HS class load, will be assigned a senior seminar teacher. These students will meet with their teacher on days when college classes are NOT in session.
Role of Senior Seminar/Leadership Teacher
The senior seminar/leadership advisor role is to advise, help, encourage, and support when necessary. However, we can not make sure students are going to class, doing their assignments, reading the material assigned and studying for tests and quizzes. It is the personal responsibility of each student that he/she is attending every class, turning in every assignment on time, and studying for all quizzes and tests.
Grading
Grading for Leadership and Senior Seminar will be based on attendance, classwork, participation, writing assignments. Additionally, the grade they receive on their college class/classes will also factor into their grade. Your child will receive a syllabus that specifies what the grading formula will be for their particular class.
